I have a 36 Ford pickup that I'm restoring. Don't know much about how the cowl vent is supposed to work. The vent lid is there and a bug screen, but it looks like the handle is broke off, lots of rust, don't see any arm or spring, etc. Since I'm new at this stuff, wondering how the vent works, what parts I'm missing, where do the pieces go, schematics, and how to unstick the vent or get it working again. Thanks for any insights.....

Factory air conditioning! Going to be tuff finding the parts but vintage Ford sites may have them. Most likely it's been glued down because they leak. It is a handle that runs along a stationary piece with set positions to keep it at different positions.

no a/c, you may be right about it being glued down, although it looks like some of the guts are still there.would love to see some pics or video of how it works from underneath.....
