Bad gasket, defective vent valve in cap, damaged filler neck, wrong cap

its probably the filler neck i didnt replace it when i changed my fuel tank. by gasket you mean gasket on the gas cap?
Yes , the gasket on the cap.

I replace my tank, not because it was rusty or bad.It just had several things to deal with and for 200 bucks I put a real nice new one in it.

One of the problems was the filler neck was By -otched up where someone was messin around .
It also has some surface rust ( desert car no biggee) and 2 dents , (not real) big .

I could have used it and did for the first year or so, but didnt want to fool around with it.
