Hello there. Looking for whatever advice I can get on this one. I just recently purchased my (hoped to be) dream car, a 1967 Mustang Fastback from a dealer off ebay (you I know, my first mistake, but I'm 23, young and stupid). The dealer described it as being an easy restoration, and good starting point for the novice restorer. Also said it needed a total restoration. Well, I asked him about the frame, he said the torque box needed replacing and the rest of the frame was fine. Turns out, the whole frame is shot! The LF rail is almost disintegrated, the RF is going to join it soon. The LR is almost in two pieces, the RR is pretty badly rusted. The rest of the undercarriage is pretty rusted out as well. I have pictures if anyone would like to see. I'm working with the owner right now to possibly get a refund, but if things fall through, I'll be seeking legal matters. Any advice on a place to take her to to get the frame in SAFE condition (for now) in the vacinity of Pensacola, FL would be greatly appreciated, in case the legal stuff falls through. Also, any legal advice on this matter would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks. Paul Camp

Try to get your money back first. How did you pay for the purchase?

Worry about the repair and cost later if for some reason you cannot get your money back. It is going to be expensive unless you can do the work yourself.

It is possible the seller may not have realized how bad it was himself.

Yeah, it's not easy buying on the Ebay.
Depending on what you paid and what you're abilities are, it may not be that bad, since the parts to fix these cars are readily available in the aftermarket.
When I got my 68 fastback, I expected more than what I ended up with, and I took a peek at it first.
You may want to head on over to
www.vintage-mustang.com and ask the Florida area people for thier fav shop.

Thanks for all the info ya'll. It's greatly appreciated. I've actually talked to the boss of the company and he said he's going to send me down the rails and an exhaust system. So he is working with me. I've also decided that I'm going to go thru with restoring with. There are a lot of good things about the car, it's just going to take me a while to save up for the body work to get done (along with the rails). But quick question. Was doing a x-mission fluid change on the C-4 x-mission, and while putting in the 4 qt., she started leaking from the top, from what looks like an overflow valve right next to were the shift linkage connects to the x-mission. My book (Haynes) says the C-4 takes 9 qts. Is there an overflow valve on this x-mission? Thanks again.
