What are the main differences between F-250 4x4 and two wheel dr. F-250 frames. I have a regular cab 1979 4 x4 and I want to switch the the running gear to a two wheel dr. supercab These are f-250,s. I can fabricate most anything but if the frames are completely different I won,t bother.
Thanks, Clint

They might be similar or the same, but by the time you tracked down all the parts that you need, you would be further ahead to hunt down a 2 wheel drive truck and swap your good parts to it....just my opinion.

1979 ford

I own both trucks. The 4x4 had the rear half of the frame hacked off and a one ton frame with a Dana 70 very poorly grafted on(before I aqquired it) I got a straight super cab f-250 two wheel dr. for next to nothing. I shouldn,t need much more than a longer rear drive shaft and little stuff. The 4x4 has a460 and the s/cab has a 400 with a bad knock.

OK....Make sure that the front and rear diffs have the same ratio.

You will have to compare the 2 frames and see how similar they are.
