I just installed a Pitman Arm on my 1990 Chevy 1/2 ton 2WD Truck and now the the steering wheel is off almost 1/4 turn. Is it possible that I installed the pitman arm with the steering wheel straight and the gear box 1/4 turn off, or does the pitman arm splines only go on one way onto the gearbox ?

if it was a 4 groove pitman it is possible. i think. Look at the one you took off and see if it has 4 larger grooves in the splines. Ive never seen it done so im not sure, I have however seen front ends that had an alignment attempted with bad parts, and when worn parts were installed the wheel was off.

It does have 4 bigger splines and it can go on 4 different ways , I took it for another drive and the steering wheel is not off that much , it is in the 10 oclock / 4 oclock position instead of the 9 - 3 oclock position , I installed a MOOG Pitman Arm , and it appears to not be exactly like the original , The Mechanic at the alignment shop said it shouldn't be a problem to staighten out the steering wheel adjusting the tie rods.
