Okay, well I guess I'm in a bit of a predicament. Not really but you know how it is... I recently purchased the better portion of a 1996 5.7 Vortec engine (heads, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, air cleaner, computer and dash-forward wiring harness). My question is can I just swap all these parts onto my 1995 TBI block? I bought the Vortec parts because, well, the TBI is a dog. I've done some basic mods (high flow cat, intake, etc.) but it still lags. I'm not looking for a ton of power just enough to pass someone or do some light towing. Anyway, any advice you can give would be very helpful. Feel free to E-mail or post on the thread. Thanks in advance and God bless.

I would swap the heads over, get a TBI intake for vortecs and go that route. Your not going to have to do all the wiring if you chose this route and you will still get decent power. I would change the cam to a little hotter one while the heads are off, get some headers, and maybe a chip and you should be good to go.

And get larger cop car or 454 TBI injectors and use your Vortec shortblock with the TBI injection system.

I wouldnt use the stock Vortec 350 intake manifold, its a horrible design. I swapped in a Marine Intake with 28pph flowing injectors.
