Been doing alot of reading and i want to build a rat rod. I have the space and can turn a wrench. i read an old truck frame would be a good start. I found a 58-59 chevy not sure which in a bone yard, the frame looks good, has an engine V8 in it, all i'm thinking of is the frame as a base, I can get a 1990's firebird cheap with a good engine 5.0 tranny and rearend as a donnor, Can anyone tell what they think or should i find a different frame.

Can't comment on the truck frame, but a '90s Firebird rear axle is quite wide - and not so strong. Also, unless you get a TPI engine it will be TBI, not much fun.

Howdy. A chevy S-10 frame works pretty good for a rat rod.

channeled 47 ford truck, sbc. Good luck!
