I have a 65 Impala w/ 4.56 posi. As you can guess, the highway is no longer an option!! Ill be building a 496 which i hope to get around 550-600 hp and the same torque. With that in mind, would I be better off using a bowtie overdrives level 3 700r4 or 2004r? Im more concerned that the larger gear spread on the 700r4 might give me less performance with the radical rear end. Any sugestions?

i preffer the 200 4r...i have both trannies, and preffer the 2004r gearing.

have you thought about getting and under over drive system for your car with the tranny

ya, I thoought about it. but it costs twice as much as a built 200 or 700, and I still have to build a tranny to go with it. Im a poor college student on a budget!

If you building a 600hp big block car I wouldn't have though budget would be in your vocabulary

One would think. I got the block and heads on a trade, and as it is, I figure on buying the parts one piece at a time, over about 2 or 3 years!! (can't do that with a tranny)
