Needing some advice. I just purchased a new 350 sm. block for my 65 Impala. I'm using the old 3 quarter cam from the other engine rather then a stock cam and considering going back to stock since the engine is idling high.(1500rpm) What are the pros vs cons of the upgrade? This will be a daily driver.

For those who don't know:
In the old days guys who didn't know squat
would refer to "hot" cams as 1/2 race,3/4 race
or "full" race cams.

Sounds to me like you have the wrong cam for your engine setup. If you know what your engine setup is
email me at [email protected] and I will help in any way I can.

Get a cam like the Edelbrock Performer cam. It will make a nice torque curve, idle smooth and give you good gas mileage.

Thats what i was implying when i asked what the three quarter cam is. You dont even know, somebody just said that to you, so thats what you say. There is no such thing as a three quarter cam or half race cam. Just get an edelbrock or something.
