The Buick, Olds and Pontiac lines all made a 350, none are the same as the SBC 350. all had a different bore and stroke, different block, heads, the whole bowl of wax. GMC stopped producing engines a long time ago, the vast majority of GMC trucks recieved chevy engines from the factory. Most of the other lines phased out there V8`s in the 80`s and when a V8 was needed they used a small block chevy. The Olds 307 was still in use I believe up until the 90`s, and it`s a completely different engine than a chevy 307. The only car line to use mainly it`s own V8`s in the 1980`s and up was Caddy. Now you know even more useless information.

The phase out was mandated by corporate GM. It was not by choice of Buick, Oldsmobile, or Pontiac!
