Ok so i did a small tune up on my chevelle. new plugs, cap, rotor, oil change and new headers and cleaned up the existing grounds. took the car on a road trip drove great. i drive back home and everything is still great. once home the car will not start.

i haven't tweaked the carb in a long time and the A/F mixture has been fine.
the ignition is all msd, dist. blaster 2 coil, wires, 6al box.. spark is 10 degrees btdc.

the plugs are not fouled, nice white insulator they get wet when cranked.

cranking seems fast and a little uneven. normally the tach will bounce between 1.5K and 3K rpms. now it is staying under 500 rpms.

cylinders have 190psi + or - 10psi

im stumped here with good compression correct timing and spark at all cylinders and proper fuel i dont know what to check next.

any suggestions or prior experiences will be much appreciated

its a 66 chevelle with a 350 vortec motor
On the 66 chevelle unless its been rewired:confused: there is a third wire on the starter cellinoid that supplies voltage to the coil while cranking its to the outside away from the engine check it! and theres a wire coming out of your loom by the distributor that looks like its covered in cloth ( like white fiberglass cloth) its the resistance wire to the coil! there is no ballast resistor on the early chevys this wire has built in resistance! disconnect this wire from your coil and see if it has juice while cranking, if that wire is not there and the car has been rewired check each side of the ballast resistor with the key on! If there's no ballast resistor check the hot wire to your coil for juice with the key on. If you cant or dont know how to do that run a jumper wire to your ignition and see if you then get spark! If you said your getting spark and the plugs are wet it may be flooding check your carb you may have a needle and seat leaking and a bowl flooding over!

Let us know what you find?

ok so primary side of the coil has 0 volts with key off 28mVolts with key ignition on..while cranking it bounces between 30-40mVolts. it has no balast except for maybe inside the msd box.

the spark looked weak small and yellow to me so i replaced the coil and it changed nothing.

yesterday i drove the car 100+ miles i stopped and started it three times during that trip the car drove great all the way to the drive way. no start after that

i checked for spark first at the coil wire by putting it next to the valve cover it sparked so i checked the timing it was at 10 degrees btdc just how i set it last week.
