Any more input on what cam kit and timing gear/chain set would be the best choice for some more power for my 76 f/bird 350 pont eng. ? I'm going to puchase the parts next week . The plan is to put a e/brock perf.intake,4bbl.q/jet.,(I have these parts already),and while I'm doing this I want to add a camkit and timing set to get some more hp. It presently has 6x4 heads with dual flows and stock 350 trans. w/air. Any advice will greatly be appreciated ! Finally going to do this !! LOL !! Thanks !

Summit has some inexpensive cam and lifter kids, the number on them is 2800 and 2801, they work pretty well in 350s. The 2802 is a bit large for a 350, so stick to the other two with stock heads. A set of headers or Ram Air style manifolds will pick up some power too. Cams with similar specs from other manufacturers would work well too, and dont go with the RAIV or 744 stock grinds. The Edelbrock RPM cam is basically a RAIV cam, and its way too big for a 350. Here is a cam reference page with most of the cams available for our engines. Wallace Racing - Camshaft Reference

You can get a high stall converter at most any trans shop anywhere between $100 and $200, just ask for the 400 high stall. It will flash to about 2000 rpm with a 350, but drives like a normal converter in traffic. Its a full size 13" converter, but I have run 11s with one behind a mild 455. It will help a bit and make it easier to idle at stop lights when you swap the cam.

Good recommendation, IMHO.
However on a low compression motor (like yours) you could run a comp cams XE 256, and it would wake that thing up.
You can run stock springs and pushrods and all that , so cost is minimal.

Your intake and carb choice is good, pretty much as right as rain, with a little carb tuning, it should run pretty sweet.
If you go with the summit cam, which is good,the 2800 would be the right choice. Your compression ratio as it is may be a bit low for a larger cam like the 2801, or the comp XE 262.

If you keep the stock bottleneck rocker arm studs, be sure to check the lifter preload if you change the cam! A much better choice is to use a set of straight rocker studs like outlined here.

X 2 with cobalt. I did some checking in the past and found that the base circle on all 3 cams mentioned is the same as stock. But checking preload is a very good Idea on any cam swap.
