are there any major differences between these two engines? im going to put a 350 in my 84 camaro and i was looking for a 350 sbc but i have ran into some that said they where long blocks and im wondering if they both will work the same? looking at years around 1979 with 2 piece rear main seals. and whats the difference between a 2 bolt main and a 4 bolt?

Long block and short block usually refers to whats on the engine as a package. Purchasing a shortblock normally comes with crank, rods, pistions and the bearings and what not but thats about it. A long block will include heads and some other components.

2 bolt vs. 4 bolt refers to the number of bolts holding the main caps in place. Generally 4 bolts are a bit stronger and can handle more power however this is often debated (more so about how MUCH they can handle).

are these good products?

Engines remanufactured by our remanufacturing line meet or
exceed OEM specifications.
- New Manley valves
- New Elgin valve springs and keepers
- New Badger pistons
- New Hastings molly rings
- New Dynagear timing gears and Durabond cam bearings
- New Dynagear timing gears and chain
- New Elgin lifters, push rods, rockers, balls and nuts
- New Dynagear oil pump
- New FelPro gaskets
- Cylinder heads are pressure checked
- Diamond honed valve guides
- Three angle cut valve seats
- All head surfaces are broached
- Blocks are bored with deck plates, cylinder walls are diamond honed
- Crankshafts are ground and polished for .002 clearance
- Camshafts are ground to OEM specifications, hardened and polished
- Connecting rods are sized to .002 clearance

i found this 350 at www.used-auto-engines.com it says it does not come with valve covers, timing covers, intake manifold, and oil pan. but comes with cylinder heads attached and valve train installed. for $954.00, does this mean i will still have to get a harmonic balacer and such other parts need for the front of the block? it does not mention anything about these parts im wondering if thats usually how engines come when bought? meaning as without the front parts water pump, fan etc..

Pretty much a long block. Some companies offer different setups. Fords setup comes with everything but the intake, carb, distributor etc. Recon offers the intake, but no water pump or balancer.

so did i read that right? your saying just find a motor on ebay? im trying to get the most complete motor i can find hopefully one that runs right out the box so i can just swap motors out of my car and put it in and be set to go. without spending alot of money im trying not to spend too much over a grand. less if i can find one for a cheaper price. i know my mom bought a motor from a junkyard for her merc tracer it was about $500 but it was a 4 banger just stock.
