350 turbo had some shifting issues as far as going around a turn it would not down shift.. Changed the fluid and filter.. Problems now.. I can put the truck in the drive position and it will move however it will not shift.. I have to crank it down to 1 and then manually shift it from there.. It will give me good shifts when I shift it at the correct rpm range.. I put too much fluid in at first.. I read that the trans holds about 8 to quarts. But what I did not realize that it was dry capacity.. My fluid capacity now from what I have read is four quarts.. I over filled by two quarts I put six in.. Experienced the problems got more knowledge and sucked the other two out.. I check the fluid now and it is at optimum level however it still shifts manual.

Check your vacuum feed tube and hoses from the engine to the vacuum modulator on the trans

The vacuum line running down from the carburetor to the transmission modulator should have short rubber sections on each end, and be made of metal from the carburetor area down to near the modulator. An all rubber line may collapse and/or burn up where it runs near the exhaust manifold.

Or it may have simply came un-hooked from the modulator. Cole

Or, when you pull the vacuum line off of the modulator and fluid drips out, the modulator is bad.
