Well I not sure if this is a dumb question or not.
I have a 78 F-150 with a 351 W and the oil gauge reads high when you start it but after you drive awhile and slow down or stop the gauge drops all the way down (a little scary) but the engine makes no noise, so I kinda figure the idiot gage might be bad, any one else have this problem and how hard is it to put in a pressure gage?
Thanks, Joe

Check oil pressure with another gauge, cold and hot both,if your motor has a buncha miles, the bearings are probably wore pretty bad, and the gauge may still work right. I've run into that same problem and it was worn bearings.
