Some of the 5.7 rod cranks for 383 a require exteranlly balancing all the ones we have ever built we have used the crank for the 6 inch rod and we have always internally balanced them. As it saves on a balancer and flywheel or flex plate if you already have one.
You can get internally balanced 383 cranks. The last one I got was a Probe crankshaft for a 5.7 rod. With that crank, Eagle h-beam rods, Probe dished forged pistons, and neutral balance flexplate and balancer no Mallory metal was even required!
