Some years back one of the rodder mags featured a company that made a 4-spd shifter that mounted on the top of a muncie and maybe other 4 spds. Does anyone know of that company and if they are still in business?

Not exactly mounted on top, but it's worth looking up Hurst @ www.hurst-shifters.com Their 'Street Super/Shifter' may be the ticket.

Thanks for the reply. The muncie is behind a pontiac motor in a 3 window 34 ford. The problem with the shifter that mounts on the tail shaft housing is it is too far back and hit the seat. I am looking to mount the shifter on the top of the gear case away from the seat and have it appear as a factory top loader. I am currently making a home built shifter but am having trouble with it not shifting smoothly. The problem is in my design and I was hopping to get a look at the commercial built one to see how it was(is) designed.
