Hi there new here ...I have a 1970 galaxie xl with a 429... the vin said it should have a 289 hipo..0g60k//////...so i was looking at the block and the code from what i can see is D1VE 6015-A2B....heads D0VE-C ..tag on the intake 429 70 6 2nd line ?c k815 ag just hoping that some one out there can tell me what I have....the motor sounds good com...150 psi..has a holly p- 80 carb...thats all I have..now..Thanks

I believe that would make it a 71 460, or possibly a 429 that someone put 460 heads on. Maybe someone else can confirm that or correct me if I am wrong. And Are you sure it is supposed to have a 289? 1970 would have been a 302, 1968 was the last year of the 289

I have been corrected...found a sheet on 1970 ..and the ..k..in the vin..is a 429...2b...

That is probably a 1971 429 4V Thunderjet. If it has the factory flat top pistons that will be a high compression engine in excess of 10:1. With a stock cam you will definitely need to run 93 octane and be careful with the ignition timing to avoid pinging.
