1974 block, dove c heads, comp 268 cam lunati lifters, edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock 750 carb, headers, 21/2 exhaust, glasspacks. 300 rear gear, about 14 mpg. stomp on it in drive and it won't stop smoking tires till it hits about 80 mph through all three gears. thanks
i have 1970 460--I recomend larger 7or 8quart oil pan-hi-volume/hi-pressure cj style oil pump-it has larger dia.pick-up tube-keep it below 6 grand and have fun.
Only advice I can offer is a high pressure pump if you plan on venturing above 5500 rpm. 460s are priority cam oiling, not main oiling, so by the time the mains get pressure its lower than optimal.
Otherwise, take advantage of the big bore/small stroke and make some power.
