i have a 454 big block chevy generation IV want to get 450 horse in a 71 chevelle. it has 781 heads, plan to do some port and polishing, was wondering if i needed bigger valves. need to know what size carburetor, what type of lifters solid or hyd? and type of intake, what kind of cam was wanting to run a 9:1 compression ratio and i will bore it .060 over to make it a 468, im 18 years old and new to the game any help will be appreciated

Dont bore it any more than is needed,its always a good idea to leave room for future rebuilds.

781 heads respond tremendously to 2.19 intake and 1.88 exhaust valves. blend all edges in the bowls and smooth the short side radius. Smooth the upper 1/2 of the exhaust ports.
