'47 Ford caps fit really tight to a steel rim. Who has a good trick tool for removing the cap without gouging the powder coating? Something plastic perhaps?
I use a large screw driver to pop my dog dish hubcaps off my white caprice. If I was worried about scratches I would just put a piece of duct tape around the end of the screw driver.
To pull the front caps off our Pete's, I have screwdriver, with the end bent about 30*, with a piece of shrink tube that runs up the shaft about an inch, or so.
Believe me, some our our drivers get plumb irate, if you scratch their polished Alcoas.
I take dog dish hub caps and squeeze them from the sides to make them slightly oblong, then when installing them I will turn them to the widest part and pop them on over the bump in the wheel. That way you don't have to pry hard to get them off.
