I was putting a 4T60E (95 DeVille) back together when I went to put the output shaft back in so I could put the final drive in. When I went to put the shaft in I noticed a part the I had left over still on the shaft. Turns out it was the input reaction carrier shield. So I took it back apart and installed the shield (good thing I didn't have the channel plate and valve body all bolted down:sweat: ).
Anyways my question is, what would have happened if I had left this little shield out? It looked as if it only retained oil in the planets (no evidence of a thrust load).
