I am building a 400 +hp 350 for street strip use and am wondering if there would be any gain by using a 6 inch rod in a engine that is only going to see a max of 6000 rpm. Ive got to buy rods anyhow but the pistons seem to be a little cheaper for the 5.7 rod.

i found and this is just my experience, but there seems to be more options for a 5.7 rod. more rods and more pistons for these rods.
Search through the threads this has been talked about a few good times, i know i asked seomthing similar

You know 6" rods have their place but for a mostly street engine w/ 400 hp I would just stick with a good set of 5.7 rods. You could use properly prepped (mag'd, polished beams, shot peened, ARP bolts) stock chevy rods or buy a set of aftermarket like Scat or whichever you choose. I would have the entire reciprocating assembly balance though for longevity and smooth running when you stand on it.
