hi i saw that some people were working on a set up for disc brakes on a 55 buick,and i was wondering what has been done? does anyone know a rotor off of another car that would work? or maybe a kit thats not 1500.00? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at http://www.scarebird.com . He makes quite a few different kits for front and rear disc brake conversions. His kits generally just include the parts that have to be custom made and the instructions give you a list of parts that are easy to find at a Napa or other parts store. I'm planning on getting a disc brake conversion for my 62 Electra from him. The kit for my Electra uses rotors and calipers from a 71-76 full-size GM car.
