Does anyone know how to check the fluid for a power top in a 55 chevy belair? Also what type of fluid does it take? I have been told it could be trans fluid or brake fluid. And lastly how do you fill it? The pump is located behind the rear seat and sits horizontally.

Figured it out. It was brake fluid. Filled pump, ran top up and down with plug out until air was purged. Took five 12oz. bottles of brake fluid to fill it. No leaks found. Where does it go????
