thanks for those who responded to my query last year. the roller cam engines use a steel gear according to the ford motor sport book. cast cams(flat tappet use cast iron or brass depending on cam manufacturer mostly cast).
Just an extra note: The only non-TFI dist. you can use on a roller cam is the 85 Mustang dura spark dist. I use them for 86 & up SEFI to carb conversions on the 5.0l Mustangs.
If you see one the gear has yellow dye on it, pick it up they are hard to get now!
