Ok, I more or less inherited a 67 Camero RS/SS that is nearly ready for the drags. I dont know much about this car but it has a 555ci bbc that is alcohol injected and puts out 850hp and has 150 shot of nitrous. The motor was put in the car 3 years ago and it hasnt been started in 2 years. I farted with it Sunday and got it going, but it wouldn't run on its own without pooring fuel down the throttle body. The fuel distribution manifold was getting fuel and I could see fuel returning into the fuel cell, so I think the injectors must have some crap in them. We plan to drag race this car and I need ALOT of help from some experienced guys, I have never dealt with anything like this but I do have alot of mechanical ability and knowhow. For starters the car has its origional 4spd manual...I plan to put in a th400 or powerglide, and need to decide on a convertor also. Also, the car has a 9" narrowed rear axle with 31" tall tires, but a 4.10 gear...what would be a better ratio for the 1/4 mile? 4.88? The car is set up with 4 link in the rear with coilovers and the front is stock, just lowered a little. I plan to put a rack and pinion in it because the manual stock steering leaves alot to be desired. The fuel in the tank is 2 years old, how long does alcohol stay good? Any advice on anything would be greatly appreciated. I have never dealt with this much power, alcohol, or set up a drag car. The car has all steel body with full interior and cage. The motor came out of a rail car that ran 7.90's in the 1/4 mile...so maybe this car will be capable of getting in the 9's. Thanks a ton, I will do my best to ask competent questions as I go and give the best information that I can.
