I disappeared from this forum when things started going better for my project. It took me about 2 years to build this myself, and I had lots of issues that I solved with the help of the great people here! Life has changed so much for me in last few months I’d like to get opinions on how much this is worth AS IS with the patina. It IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL BUILD. But it is the original paint/rust on the exterior. I did paint the inside and swap the steering wheel because the inside was toast from sitting in the woods for years. And to me it has character, maybe not to others. Hit me with opinions.

GM CRATE 350 4 bolt vortec heads
212/222 cam hydro lifters
Edel Air gap RPM intake
Edel AVS2 carb added just last week not pictured
Longtube ceramic coated headers
Accell distributor
serpentine belt setup w power steering

700R4
Factory stall
Lockup Wired to vacuum switch

Fuel tank moved to underneath bed.

Truck runs and drives great has a lot of power, no weird noises, doesnt leak or burn oil. Trans shifts smooth, slightly firm. Lockup works great. Full disclosure I did have to take the intake and some of valve train apart due to water getting in the tank early in the tuning process or possibly during the install process which I did outside with the hood off.
The body is straight, there are some rust holes in one cab corner and one fender, slightly bent grille and fender. Fogged windshield, seat tore up with a cover on it. Body 6/10 interior 5/10 engine and trans 9/10. But I’ve kept it like it is because everyone seems to love the patina on this truck. I plan to clear coat or floor polish the entire truck in the spring and may offer it up. Opinions on pricing?

These things are hot right now so locally 15-18k....
Wow this is really suprising to me. I hope others will chime in as well. I took it out for a cruise this morning. No radio just listening to the cam in traffic is a hot rod experience for sure. Sometimes i chirp the tires by accident haha. I’m still skeptical about offering it up because it is a backyard build, with 0 bodywork done besides the bumpers and mirrors. But it offers that hot rod feeling, and after months of issues initially it is way more reliable than I thought it would be. If I scuff the heavy rust and clear coat it, I’m thinking I’ll ask for 12 and see what happens?

The look of not having a show car paint job is what has been hot for awhile now.
As long as your truck is solid, with no major damage, and the lines are good it will be highly sought after. Unless it is ate up with cancer you should be ok.
What region are you in?
I’m in NC. I honestly can’t even put gas in it without people walking up to me and asking about it. I live in a very poor area though. It has 1 rust hole in cab corner and 2 in fender. it is really straight though. Tailgate is damaged as per usual and small pinholes in the bed. Floor is all there with one hole patched sometime long ago but it’s not soft. Firewall area is rough. I will at the very least put several coats of floor polish on it to preserve for a few more months. I would hate to weld it up and paint it really, it just has this character. To my friends and family it is the perfect patina build. To some others it is just a “waste of money” lol

I think Johnson is a little high, unless we are talking truly restored and good paint and body. Then yes 10 to 18K easy.
I live in SE virginia (Chesapeake) I would say around 3 to 8K for a decent running truck depends on the body condition and factory options. I am currently doing a frame off 72C10 and Currently working on sheet metal repairs. I am truly not looking forward to the paint portion .
Just remember you will never get out what you have put into cash wise... that is the bad thing about the hobby.
I appreciate the input! I’ve been checking Craigslist locally and I’m seeing 8-15k. And then fully restored ridiculous 25-45k pricing. Goood luck with your 72 project! Building the engine and wiring my trans was easy for me, I took my time though. Tuning/dealing with fuel delivery and wiring issues really whooped my a**.

I think it’s safe to say this build is worth 5-7k AS IS. To someone who truly loves the c10. Maybe 8-12 with bodywork and paint done non-professionally.

if anyone is wondering, I have completely painstakingly sanded and painted the suspension, chassis, tunnel rear end and underneath the bed. But not in a full frame-off situation.
When I was originally looking for this body, I ran into a lot of “I need 5k for it” sitting in woods with 0 of bed left and half a floor pan. So I do try to be realistic when it comes to value and I thank all for your opinions.
