I'm in the market for a new passenger quarter panel, but am trying not to spend a bunch of money on a new OEM panel. They are quite expensive! Does anybody know of a place to find a "full" quarter panel for a lower price than a restoration company?
The only place you could find something like that would be e-bay. You won't find any first Gen camaros in the yards to pick parts off of. Either look for a parts car, look for the parts on e-bay or the easiest and simplest way order them from a restoration place. Unless of course you want to get into alot of bodywork to repair the one you already have, but if I were you and wanted to do it the easiest way and get it right, buy the part, it much less work and trouble.
Hey i've found that the best place to get good new parts that are cheep are from a small company in Two River, WI called Browns of Two River. There website name is www.cooltruckparts.com and they carry just about everything you will ever need for a car. I havn't checked out there website yet, but i have a few of there books and a new 1/4 for you car would be about $80.
Be careful as to what you buy. If you want to halfass it you can pick up panels from a multitude of companies but the clincher is when you go to install it. The dies are not a perfect match and you can run into all kinds of trouble when replacing the fender. The body lines will not line up correctly, radiuses are all incorrect, lengths might be a little too long or too short. I would look for a company such as Goodmark, YearOne, or some of the Camaro only specialist for a quality reproduction. It will cost a little more in money but a lot less in aggravation.
Don't buy cheap parts like Qtr panels. You will be very sorry, been there. I would suggest http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/
They make very good parts at a very good price. Every part I used from them looked like a new original part.
