So I did some searching and ended up finding a 390 engine that ill just swap into it instead
Thanks for all the advice though
Good move even though you really wanted the SBC in there. I did too, just to piss off all the haters, ha.....

Read up about driveshaft/ u-joint angles.
More than 5° is not desirable.

A buddy had a 351W in a Cougar way back and it went real good. You won't be disappointed.

I think any Ford is bad on mileage.

I wouldn't use anything older than 1996. OBD II is the best and programmable.

Don't know if anything in this year range would fit, just saying, it's the better way to go injection wise. That, or aftermarket. Aftermarket would probably be easier for you.
