Howdy, I picked up a 700R4 to install in my International pickup to chevy drivetrain conversion.

I want to rebuild it before I install, but not sure on what year the tranny is, and I noticed they make about 3 kits depending on tranny year.

How can I tell which year I have so I can get the right rebuild kit ??

I looked at the pad on the pass side where the numbers are suppose to be, but nothing there. The trans was suppose to have come out of a 87 suburban but not positive on that. Plus they make 2 different kits for 1987..an early and a late.

I think one has the aux. valve body (their will be a tube running from the front of the valve body to the rear of the v.b.) This is the newer one.The older style of v.b. wont have the tube.You will have to take the pan off to see it.

If it does not have the aux.valve body then I wouldnt mess with it.Those were weak .Not worth the trouble of rebuilding.

I pulled the pan and it does not have the aux valve body, plus there was a ton of crap in the bottom of the pan. So to the junk yard it goes

I have a good turbo 350 so looks like I will be using it. Really wanted to overdrive and lower gears, but budget is tight, so will have to use what I have. Can always upgrade later.
