71 chevelle, 350 sbc, powerglide. Have to change the torque converter today and was wondering if I absolutely had to pull the tranny to do it or could i just loosen the tranny mount and the bell housing and there would be enough room to get the old one out and put the new one on? Also I know this is kind of a useless question with out the specifics but is there a way to know(as I have not seen nor measured the flex plate) if a flexplate that had a turbo 400 torque converter mounted to it, to also have the holes to mount a powerglide torque converter to it as well? I am obviuosly not a tranny person lol....

You will need to pull the transmission. Good time to look for leak at front seal. Not sure about flex plate. :thumbup:

Trans needs to come out.... make sure you have a correct aluminum powerglide converter to replace the old unit with
