I'm going to be working on my '72 El Camino and the current wiring is all cobbled up. Somewhere in my past travels, I picked up a complete (well almost) engine harness from a '72 Monte Carlo.

As I'm inspecting and repairing some minor problems with the harness, I've found some wires that I can't find in the GM schematics.

I found a green/white wire, about 18 ga, located in the harness just before the driver's headlight. It goes to a triple plug which in turn plugs into something called a "Microtemp 139C", which is white plastic. The two other wires that plug into this object are green and black.

I can't find anything in the GM repair manual.

Anyone know what this is and what it does?

Try, Air-conditioning Thermo Fuse or Compressor plug...I think those are the colors.

Doc,

I think you are right. Now that I think about it, there's no wiring shown for the A/C.

Thanks.

Doc,

I found that wiring "thingy" in the Heating/AC section. It's a Thermo Limiter for AC.

Thanks.

Thought it might be..

MI2600,

Yeah, I thought it might be...

So If your not going to be using AC, just get a marker on it (for next time or if you plan future AC), and tape it back..It should be all good.

Glad to hear you figured it out!

PS: These are a good investment:
Marker Ties..
