i have a 73 plymouth duster with a slant six 225. im gonna switch it out for a small block v8. preferably a 340. i dont know what all is going to have to change. the cross member, tranny and rearend... the tranny is a 3spd auto the rear end is a 8 1/4. can i switch the pumpkin and make it posi... any help will be greatly appreciated... chris

Lots of variables. Like how much do you want to spend. I suggest picking up a MOPAR Performance catalog and couple brand specific magazines. You should be able to swap the engine just by changing motor mounts. The Tranny has to be changed to a small block. Hard to find parts for the 8 1/4. For performance i suggest upgrading to 8 3/4 (depending on horsepower). Bigger is always better :D .

i changed one a few years ago,you can't just change motor mounts,drop out the whole front end assembly,the hardest part is the arms running to the back is getting the clips off,i put a 318 in mine used the same trans. and rear end,but mine wasn't for racing,
