Hi I Have a 79 Berlinetta. Its a factory 4 speed, but the engine is not original. The engine is a 350 #3932366 and the heads are 338882 pretty much stock. It has a 2 1/4" exhaust and 4:11s. I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on the engine and some cheap upgrades i can do to make it a tad better. Thanks

Define a "tad".....what are your goals?
What condition is the motor in currently?
Assuming its a clean low mileage stocker
A "tad" to me would be a performer RPM intake
Long tube headers, Holley 650/750
A bump in timing
And call it good.

Cheap mods! Sell it and buy one with a blower. only kidding. set it up for a shot of NOS. or like bygddy said do a cam and a set of heads. i would also add an intake and carb & 3" exhaust.

The goals are to be able to smoke imports and smoke the tires. The engine runs good. What heads do you recommend?

This should give you right around 9.5:1 and an honest 350-375hp
With a stick and 411's it would be tons of fun

Define "high rpm"....as there's zero reason to turn it past 5k as it sits now. Again, define "running rich"....does it smoke, foul plugs, make your eyes water, .....at idle, at highway speeds, only when full throttle or when cruising....more details son.....

makes your eyes burn rich. and i mean plugs that will take a beating and last when running at 3000-3400RPM for about 10-20min.

Lower the fuel pressure to 4 3/4 psi. More pressure will not make more horsepower. It will overpower the needle and seat in the bowl and allow the fuel pump to blow raw fuel into the intake manifold, creating a tuning nightmare for you. A carbureted system needs high volume (think line size) and low pressure.
