Hey guys gotta a question. has anyone ever had an engine out of a 94 c1500 that was a 4 bolt main. In my other post pre-tuner i think it was said his 91 c1500 (I think thats what year it was) had a 4 bolt main in it. Just curious. I thought all these had 2 bolt mains.

You just never know till you open it up. Generally GM half ton trucks use the 2 bolt block with a cast crank. The 3/4 ton and up use the 4 bolt block with a forged crank. But it isn't uncommon to find the heavy duty engine in a half ton truck.

If it is a 4 bolt main does that mean it has a forged crank??? If so how do you tell if its forged??? Is it mor beefy looking than stock???? Also I took a 350 out of a 95 truck. It was either a 3/4 ton or 1 ton but it was a 2 bolt main. It was original engine. Anyway could that have had a forged crank??? Or does GM like to mis match engines/parts like that

Forged crank has a very wide pating line that runs along the centerline of the crank where the dies came together, a cast crank will have a very thin parting line.
