okay heres the deal i got a 1982 trans am with a small block 400 chevy motor and i was told that the 400 are balanced from the outside not like the 350 where its off the crankshaft me and my dad where thinking that its the fly wheel or a broken loop in the cam idk tell me what u think thanks, Steve

Pull all the spark plugs and find out which cylinder is missing and why. Could be as simple as a fouled plug or bad plug wire. Compare the plugs to this chart.....

Yes the 400 small block is externally balanced and must use a 400 balancer and flywheel/flexplate. If you have the incorrect pieces on it, it will destroy the thrust surface and can do other catastrophic damage.

Broken cam loop?? Do you mean a worn or flat cam lobe??

It has been 2 1/2 days since I suggested you pull the plugs and read them. Apparently you have not done that yet. You can talk about this until the cows come home, but if you're not going to get up off your duff and do something about it, you'll continue to have the problem.

I just don't get it sometimes!!!
