I'm planning to use bear claw latches and shave the door handles off my 53 F100 pickup. Are the 12lb actuators stonge enough to give me the proper push/pull torque to pop the doors open, or should I use the 35lb soleoid? The doors are pretty heavy.
Thanks once again. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

The weight of the doors is not as much a factor as is the tension that the weather strip excerts against the doors when shut. This outward pressure is what the solenoids have to overcome to release the latch. I have 7lb. solenoids in my doors but had to experiment with different weatherstrip to get them to open right. If you are in doubt go for the 35lb. ones.
