Hello all, On my 62 Impala I want to raise the rear end a bit. I've been searching for air shocks but not having any luck in finding a correct fit no matter where I looked.
Does anyone know where I can find a pair? Not only do I want to raise it an inch or so but I want to be able to raise it high enough to be able to use my floor jack.
When I use my floor jack there is no room to pump the jack.

Spacers are an option. The reason for the air shock as funny as this might sound would serve two perpuses. One, raise the rear just an inch or so so she rides a bit more level and secondly when I want to jack up the rear with a floor jack I can max out the shocks so I can get the room to pump the jack handle. As is now when I want to jack it up once the jack is under the car I can only pump the handle so much and it barely jacks at all before I keep hitting to bottom of the car in the up position. A real pain in the rear.

Thanks for the reply and keeper under 100 if you can

Fit some springs in there to get it to the ride height you want, and when you want to jack it up, run it up on some 2x12's. Air shocks are very ineffective shock absorbers and will ruin the ride.

Another trick to jack up a really low car is to jack it from the side. Jack up one side and put it on low stands, and then jack up the other side and do the same. Then you can easily fit your floor jack under the front cross member and the rear axle to get it higher. It is tougher (or maybe impossible) to do with the X frame impalas, but give it a try. Don't jack on the body though!
