I have an 87 aerocoupe monty carlo that I'm wanting to do an air suspension system in. I have no interest in tilting the car side to side or front to back, I just want to be able to lower and raise it and for it to handle well. I'm trying to be somewhat budget minded. Can anyone recommend a kit or tell me what I need to make this happen. I do weld and can fAb if needed. in short I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck without buying unneeded items. Any suggestions would be helpful being I know nothing about this.

Well i havent been able to find much for you man but its going to be some money to do that, But i did find a Air Suspension for 1978-88 G body cars, from summitracing Heres the Link for that.

Or you can call there Tech line and ask them what they have for your setup? I'm a G-body guy myself but my Suspension isnt even close to yours now lol

As per the forum rules I will tell you that I am the Product Development Manager for Air Ride Technologies/Ridetech but I cannot direct you to our website. I can only tell you that the site is not just about selling parts. It is full of useful information when trying to correctly design a suspension using air springs.

From a guy in the business here are my suggestions:
You stated, "I just want to be able to lower and raise it and for it to handle well." To do this properly you need to use a 4-way system; that is each air spring gets its own inflate and deflate valve, each air spring is isolated from the other air springs. If you try to use a 2-way system; both front bags tied together and both rear bags tied together, you will experience severe body roll when going through a corner. Think about it, if both front bags share the same air line when you go through a left hand turn the right front air spring is compressed. This forces the air from that air spring into the left front air spring. The air being forced across inflates the LF and makes the body roll that much worse.

You'll want to use 1/4" "bubble tight" valves, 1/4" lines and fittings so the vehicle is controllable. Any valve that is not "bubble tight" has an acceptable leak rate; "bubble tight" will not leak at all.

All lines, fittings, tanks, etc. MUST be DOT approved. Every semi tractor/trailer rig traveling down the interstates of America use air brakes. These air brakes use plastic line and fittings that are DOT approved. You want to use the same parts.

You can use any control system you'd like: manual switches with analog gauges all the way up to a full-on digital control system with air pressure and level sensors. I've used them all and every one has advantages and disadvantages. I can only suggest you use a gauge of some kind to give you an idea of where the suspension is.

The G-Body is quite easy to bag. In the rear the springs and shocks are separated, so all you have to do is replace the steel spring with an air spring. Every air spring has a designed ride height where the spring rate will be optimal. When you install the air spring you'll need to use spacers to get the bag at the correct height when the vehicle is at ride height.

The front is a little more difficult as the shock goes through the middle of the coil spring. If you use a standard air spring you'll have to ad an externally mounted shock (normally mounted behind the control arms). Your only other option is a shock/air spring combination (like a coil over but using an air spring instead of a steel spring).

In our hot rod shop we use "Air Ride Tech" stuff. We mix and match parts and fab up any combo a customer needs. You can use as simple as there "cool ride" stuff. Very simple and if you can weld, it will be do-able.
