I am changing which side my alternator mounts on and with the new mount I only have an inch clearance to the inner fender. It's a 350 in a 48 Chevy. Attached is a photo. Do you guys think it's enough clearance?

Inch is plenty. Torque moves it (and motor) away from the fender.

Photo is not very clear, blow it up and gets worse.

Try mounting the alternator a couple inches forward to clear valve cover. Add another belt loop to alternator. The pulley on the power steering (?) pulley does not have enough wrap.

I'm not having any trouble with clearing the valve cover, the mount is as far in as it goes. As long as I'm ok for clearance to the fender it will be good. Thanks!

Looks good to me. A inch might as well be a mile.Remember under load that side of the motor lifts up. Clearance should be adequate

Should be more concerned about big pulley below alternator that has about 5 degrees of wrap.

is that the power steering pump?

I know the photo isn't great but I have a belt running from the crank pulley directly to the P/S pulley.
