This may sound crazy, but I can not find the screw size used to attach the center caps to the American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. These are the 5 allen head style screws that attach the center cap. I have tried a search in numberous places and have found them, but I simply would like to go down to the hardware store and see if I can purchase them. My wheels did not come with any screws, so I have no idea what size they are. Are they stainless or chrome? Are they specialized so that I have to buy them through American Racing, or can I go to Grainger or McMaster Carr to find them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can buy the identical screws from McMaster Carr in stainless steel. You will not be able to find them in any hardware store. The actual screws that come with the wheels are soft and the allen head will strip out very easily. Order more than you need and you will never run out. McMaster Carr does not have a problem with small orders and ships super fast. Great business to support for all sorts of items.

The ones I actually ordered were these, they are the harder 3-16 stainless steel and are a little more expensive than the 8-18 stainless steel and come in smaller packages. This is how many I have left after replacing the cheap OEM screws. First time I had my tires re-balanced I stripped out 8 of the cheap screws trying to get the center caps off.

Thanks alot for the info. That is exactly what I needed! We have a McMaster-Carr here in Kansas City that I will get them from. Do you use any anti-seize on them for the stainless to aluminum issue? Just curious.
Thanks
