I am rebuilding a AODE / 4R70W transmission.

It came out of a 96 E-150 van.

Can anyone tell me in what order the two springs go onto the 1-2 accumulator?

I have a white and yellow spring.

Does the yellow go toward the transmission and white toward the valve body or the reverse?

Thanks ..... Mike

I can't answer your question directly, but I can point you in the right direction. I got the book from AutoZone for $15 (Hayne's Ford Automatic Transmission Manual) and it went step by step with pictures from start to finish on a complete rebuild of your transmission.

I highly recommend it.

is one spring longer or thicker wire than the other?

Does your accumilator piston have a deeper hole at one end than the other?

New style accumulator

I replaced my old sytle alum. piston with a steel unit. It has molded on rubber rings rather than o-rings.

Both springs looked the same other thank color.

Thanks ... Mike

Normally one spring has thicker wire . Not much thicker since a little difference in wire diameter makes it stiffer.

Put the stiffer spring in the large end of the stamped steel piston.
