Unfortunately its just the base 305/700r4 model, not rare... but it is a legit IROC (checked the option codes on it), with original paint and original NOSE...lol

Best thing about the car is the interior, it looks about a year old... not 25. Its had a ton of tune-up/ maintenance work done on it recently and runs like silk. I like to buy cars that are original and unmonkeyed with, and this certainly is that.

Guy I bought it from is a full time mechanic and has had 80's Camaros for years... its his thing. I have a real good feeling about the car.

Don't sweat the auto, you can easily make it a real tire burner. My 305 in my C2500 has a similar combination. It's a factory-rated "235hp" 305 with a 4L60E behind it. 14 bolt SF with Gov-lock and 3.73 final drive. It put a hurt on my buddies 87 Mark VII LSC with the 5.0L HO (not the regular lame 5.0L most Mark VII's came with) all the way up to 60 mph. That's in a 3/4 ton extended cab truck with 31" tires. The strong first gear and steep final drive can easily make these cars little jackrabbit "light-to-light" cars.

what rear you have the 10 bolt or the holden 9 bolt..
If that Q is for me... To be honest, I'm not sure! I believe its the 10 bolt and it has limited slip, but I don't know the ratio. I got down on it a little on the test drive, its not that fast but it will turn the tires over, runs about as good as I would expect a 305 to run, doesnt seem worn out and doesnt smoke.

I pick the car up tomorrow.

the rear gear is mostlikely 3.43 tho could be 3.27iirc
the 9 bolt is stronger ..
good luck with it..
I had
82 crossfire t/a
85 t/a 305/t5
88 t/a 355/th400

I bet a 4:11 would really wake one up...hmmmmm (checking Summit book...) haha

if its a tpi dont bother with the 4:10's they put the engine up out of its power band very fast most go with 3:42 and max of 3:73's with the tpi

i have owned 15 3rd generation f-bodys over the years

first word of advice is dont buy anything performance wise for the engine unless it will swap onto a 350 i.e headers/catback , aftermarket tpi manifold parts

second advice is if u want to make the thing fast 350 with vortec heads ,and vortec manifld base for the tpi if u want to keep the fuel injection

nice car btw

if u do any mods and its fuel injected u will have to get into chip burning for the ecm

check out thirdgen.org forums for the diy prom section

btw what year is it i cant tell without a picture from the rear of the car

Hey, thanks for those great tips!

Its a 1987. all stock TPI etc.

I'm sure it will stay stock, I was just kidding bout the 4:11s (well not really haha)

If you see my recent post, now my daughter wants it... I think it would make a great first car. Its drives and handles really nice.

a ssomone who had one for a first car, i would say it is not a good first car
#1 they suck in the rain or any bad weather
#2 enough power to get into some serious trouble with
#3 they fold up like an accordian if u crash them

my first car was an 87 iroc with the 305/5 speed combo lots of fun and great car but i got in alot of trouble with that car and had lot of very close calls with it

if u do do gears get a set of 3:42 or 3:73's max, though id have to check what the 305 came with i know the 350 cars would be either 2:72 or 3:23 not sure of the 305 cars were the same

is the rpo sticker still under the center console lid ? if so take a picture of it and i can tell u what gears and suspension options the car has

Yep, sure is... I knew enough to check for the IROC code BZ4 I believe it was... but thats it. I'll take a pic and post it tomorrow night.

It would be great to know what its got. Thanks.

Interior in this thing is absolutely mint. Heres a video the seller made if you are interested.

i've never owned an iroc or 3rd gen z-28, but i've owned 3 3rd gen camaros (sport coupes).

1) i hope your back is in good shape because they ride rough. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but i want to point that out to you.

2) No real problems, easy to work on. i didn't have an easy time in the snow, but think this has more to do with tires than other things such as RWD, more weight up front etc. i think it's generally a well built, well designed car.

3) These cars really handle well. So, at least with me, they kind of intrinsically made me want to drive a little more aggressively than what i would normally do. This got me into trouble occasionally. So you have to be careful about that.
