Hello,

So im working on a Hyundai 1.6 SOHC (09 Accent, 95000km) that developed a knock that increases with RPM and seems to be louder when in gear.
Sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine.
-Did the screwdriver listening test to all cylinders without much change.
-Have lifted the coils testing ignition ping with no improvement.

I have all the accessory belts off now, Slight axial play on the waterpump pulley (slight "tick" if you wiggle it maybe 0.001-0.003"), spins fine.

My concern is when I grab the harmonica balancer and wiggle it there is some axial play as well.

Could this mean the mains are gone or is it possible just a bad timing belt tensioner?

Possibly anything else?

Any input would be appreciated

A link to a shot clip of the play is attached

Thanks,
Nick

I think those are bad for the balancer coming apart. I've seen a few a work.
