Hello,
My friend is looking to be building a BBC stroker hopefully. He was wondering what is better a 496 with a 4.25 stroke crank, or a 525 with a 4.5 stroke crank. With the 4.5 stroke crank if he goes that way he is going to use a 427 Tall Deck block. what motor do you think is better? And it is for a strip/street car.

Thanks

From all that I have heard, it is not good to use a 4.5 stroke in a stock block. I think it has something to do with having to clearance too much and weakening the block. If you really want the 4.5 stroke, you could get an aftermarket block which will run from $1600-$2200 depending on what you want. If you did go that route, you might as well build a 572 or 598, they just use a bigger bore.
