I am building a 1970 Cuda. (originally a 440 6 pack) The car was modified in the mid 70s for Pro Stock Drag racing and is currently engine and trannyless (firewall cut and pushed back 6", full roll cage, Hemi engine motor plate mounts set back, frame tied.) I have pics of the car (when purchased) in my profile. I am currently investigating engine and transmissions. The 528 hemi is the leading engine possibility, but the transmisson is still up for grabs. The car has its Dana 60 with 5.38 gears. The car still has it's clutch pedel and linkages, so I am looking of a manual transmission setup to handle 800+ horse and ft/lbs to the Dana with 32" by 14" Slicks.

The liberty 5 clutchless transmission seems to be the leading candidate (with a Ram single disc sintered iron
assembly clutch)

Any hard core drag racers out there with an opinion on manual trans setups?

I'm assuming this is a race only vehicle? You can't use a clutchless tranny on the street because it will pop out of gear upon deceleration. There are a few companies that make very good quality transmissions that can easily handle that power. Lenco, jerico, liberty, and G-force come to mind.

I don't know about a single disc clutch living
long behind that engine, you might want to think
about a Tilton multi disc set up...
