I am going to be painting my 73 nova sooner or later and as the subject says, I am wondering what to put under the vinyl top.
Currently the roof has some light surface rust (originally a non-vinyl top car.) I will sand out rust, prep with metal cleaner (the "blue stuff" from PPG), and prime with metal etching primer.
The car itself will be painted with lacquer. Should I brush paint on something thick like Rustoleum on the roof, or just shoot the roof like the rest of the body.
I guess I just want to "cheat" a little by not spraying the roof and of course I'm also concerned about any rust forming under the top. I was also told "never brush paint under a vinyl top." Don't know if this is an old wife's tale or not....
Thanks in advance for your help/ ideas.
