Bigger brakes for a Ford 8 inch

I put a maverick 8 inch rear in my 55 sunliner and I had to pull the axles to replace the bearings and I noticed the maverick brakes might be a little small for that size of car, does anyone know of a larger brake assembly I can put on the maverick rear. I was thinking about 68/69 and 70/71 fairlane or torino brakes and since I had new bearings pressed on I dont want to change the axles if possible. Jeff

As a general rule ... as long as the donor Ford vehicle has the same housing ends ... you can change the backing plates ...

I have done this many times on the 57 Ford rear ends I like to use. I usually use 65 - 66 Ford Galaxies backing plates and drums. They are 11X2 :D
