I got a 97 Blazer that misses usually at higher rpm. It happens just before shifts appx. 2300-3000 rpm or at about 60mph/2000rpm. I replaced the plugs and wires but not the cap and rotor. Just wanted to know if I should do that next or is there an engine specific problem that causes this.

Run a compression check. These engines will sometimes develop intake gasket leaks that lead to a "Sucked" intake valve. The valve actually pulls into the intake port leaving a poor sealing seat surface.

From an external visual inspection of the valvetrain. Remove rocker arms. Lay a straight edge across the tops of the valve stem ends. The suspect valve will have a stem that sets just a little higher (.020 or so) than the rest. 350's and 4.3's do it regularly.

Is it hard to start at all? do you get a check engine soon light? I would also check fuel pressure. I beleave the fuel pressure should be 60-66 psi
